A personal introduction.

We are Bennett, a law firm at home in Missoula, Montana, with a shared appreciation for automobiles, engines, and the people drawn to them.
The engineering. The lines. The story behind the keys. We understand that a vehicle can mean considerably more than a way to get somewhere. Getting to know what matters to you is part of getting the legal details right.

Our story, so far.

Our vehicle practice began with motorhomes and the people making a life on the road. Over the years, that work brought us further into the automotive world: remarkable cars, motorcycles, and the owners and specialists who know them best.
Along the way, the work has introduced us to dealers, auction houses, lenders, and people with very different ideas of the perfect vehicle. Those relationships have become part of the fabric of the firm.
Today, Thad, Duncan, and our team carry the Bennett name forward. Motorhome owners remain an important part of our practice, alongside clients whose interests take them in other directions.

Meet Thad and Duncan.

Both grew up in small Montana towns. Both joined Bennett while studying law. They have spent much of their professional lives here, building relationships and getting to know the people behind the vehicles.
Here is a little more about the people on the other end of the phone.

In the garage.

Something from another era. Something being built today. We appreciate a beautifully kept classic as much as an idea that moves engineering forward.
Ask us what belongs in the garage, and the conversation can run a little longer.

Montana is home.

For Thad and Duncan, Montana is where they grew up, studied law, and built their working lives. That connection is part of the way we welcome people: a conversation, a straightforward answer, and the time to get acquainted.
Clients may come to us from well beyond the state, but the voice on the phone belongs to someone here. You will find us on Pine Street in Missoula.

A few things
worth knowing

Do I need to live in Montana?

Not necessarily. A Montana entity may own and register a vehicle, but your circumstances and the requirements where the vehicle is kept and used must be considered. We can help you evaluate whether the arrangement is appropriate.

Can you help before I buy?

Yes. An early conversation allows us to consider the ownership structure and documentation before your purchase is complete.

What if the vehicle is financed?

Lender requirements matter. Ownership through an LLC may require written consent and additional documentation, which should be addressed before proceeding.

Can you help after registration is complete?

Yes. Our services include registration renewals, ongoing LLC support, and assistance when your ownership arrangements change.
